Seal says he learned how to be a good father by doing the opposite of what his father did to him. Seal revealed that his father violently beat him on a regular basis when he was a child. He and his wife Heidi Klum have two sons and a daughter who benefit from the lessons he learned growing up because he wishes to parent them very differently than his father's parenting style. He has since learned to forgive his father for the abuse and says:

"My dad was a troubled soul, but I understand why he was like that. He couldn't break out of a vicious cycle: his father, my grandad, was also a nasty piece of work. And maybe dad hated the fact that I was a newer, younger, version of him. I still describe my father as a great man, because he gave me the gift of seeing everything I shouldn't do as a father."


It's really wonderful and incredible that Seal has found the strength to break the vicious cycle of abusive behavior. I bet Seal is a wonderful father - he certainly has a beautiful family with Heidi.
